you are over thinking it, to talk yourself into calling

    go with facts

what type of hands call on flop and raise big on turn......generally big hands

    fold it

although i dont play small stakes.....in small stakes i'd call and reload.

i play 400-800 buy ins, there i'd lay it down on turn

I've given the check-minraise a world of credit over the last 3-4 months because people are using it well to commit their opponents stacks, but they're doing it with very small, strong ranges that TPTK doesn't fare well against. With only $36 left behind him, the $9 raise would effectively commit you to his stack were you to call as you'd get better than 2:1 on a riverpush.

Nothing you beat's taking the chance at giving free cards by check/calling the flop and pretty much check/minraising the turn.
