    Default information raise

    if I get this right..so you raise for information, and if you have an ok hand and they re raise you then you're probably beat ? but what if they just call and call. and then you don't want to raise and you check , and they make a big ass raise. you don't get an info ...

    If they call and call, then you check and they bet, I would think that it means they are slow playing a hand or made a draw. It could also mean (if they are playing aggresively) that they sense weakness and are trying to bluff you, but I think the first two scenarios of made a draw or were slow playing are the more common.

    Info raising is usually only done on the flop, since the majority of the hand has been defined. Your opponent has declared, by betting, that he has interest in this hand. Now you have a hand that is not on either end of the poker spectrum (ie its not a lcear fold, and its not slwoplayable or a lock). Your raise here lets you know how much he really likes his hand. It gets you info on how your hand probably rates against theirs.
