I'm writting an article on this (on my blog). I will post the link once its done.
However just a short strategy guide:
Play like any other tournament.
Play tighter than usual - People make many more mistakes than usual, so your good cards will pay off if played correctly.
If there is already too much money in the pot don't worry about extracting more money out of players by letting them chase their outs. (unless you have the absolute nuts). Be aggressive and win what you can right there.
Stop getting mad everytime someone sucks out on you. It's a freeroll so you are not losing anything.
More comming soon....

I played at Poker Room/Hollywood.
I made the final table multiple times.
It teaches you really well about changing gears IMO.
I normally take a few gambles early and hope to get a big stack. When most of the total idiots aregone (just before the money sort of ) Then start exploting the almost ivetible tight plaly that occurs.
If thier worth it depends on how you look at it. The challenge they provide is totally ;unique (I used to pause my 1000/NL action to play) and will help your poker game IMO. Your not going to make much money really but they are fun. Like an addicting flash game. IMO

Freerolls can be worth it, sometimes
Some sites offer freerolls that are worth playing, but they are few and far between. Always try and keep an eye on what kind value the tournament really is, a freeroll with 100$ and 50 players is a lot more valuable then a 1000$ freeroll with 5000 players. Also realize how long the tournament will take, that 50 player game is only going to take an hour or so while the 5000 player game is a day long commitment. With that in mind if you are playing in a freeroll thats worth playing you should be playing to win.
The key thing in these games is no one really has anything to lose which basically eliminates fold equity unless you are putting a person to a decision for all of there chips. This works to your advantage when you hold a good hand though. Freerolls reward overbetting your big hands and strong draws and playing tight otherwise. If I find myself in a freeroll I'm usually playing about half as many hands as normal but doubling the size of my bets when I do play. One last thing is that players are more apt to river bluff in these games so your calling standards on later rounds should be much looser then in real tournaments. Hope that helps even though I kind of ducked your question.
Ekim,
