First hand, I post the blind in the cut-off.
Just so there is no confusion - UB .25/.50 Kill (limit)
I get dealt![]()
One limper, one raiser - i am getting 5.5:1 to call, and we will probably end up with at least one call - so at least 6.5:1. I call, and I believe we see the flop 3 handed - 6.5SB in the pot.
Flop is something like![]()
![]()
It goes check and bet - now I have a belly-buster, but a J will improve me to an OESD - and a heart will improve me to a flush draw. Also, it is possible I am up against an unpaired hand so my effective outs are probably some where close to 6, and I am getting 7.5:1 to call - I call and the checker calls.
4.75BBs in the pot.
The turn is
Now, the EP check-caller bets - and the original raiser just calls - I happily call, but think of raising, my pot equity is too marginal.
the turn isnow the EP player checks - the original bettor bets out.
This is strange - I figure I have nothing to lose by raising here so I raise - the EP player (that I thought had at least two pair) folds ( I have been seeing turn bluffs quite a lot lately) and the other player calls and loses with his KK.
Any comments?

You chased. I think it's fine to draw to a draw, however usually you need very good implied odds.
Did you think about reverse-implied odds here? Even when you hit your best card(Jh) you still have to face another bet and possible reraise/allin. I think that's why this is such a risky play, but risky plays normally pay off big

Goose, this was limit. Sorry. I don't play NL much in ring.

Nice hand.
Other things you should be considering before you call the flop:
Type of player that the EP limper is (specifically, is he capable of a check-raise here? How often would he check-raise here / What kind of hand would he check-raise here?)
How you will play if the PF raiser bets again on the turn and a T/8 comes.

SteveY, I didnt know anything since I just sat down.
To your second point, that is why I was discounting the pair outs.
Great points.

I wasn't focusing as much on discounting outs. I was actually asking how you would play if a T or 8 come. Like if the turn is a 7, your hand is pretty easy to play. if it's a J/Q, then it's easy to play. If it's a heart, then it's easy to play. The only cards that actually make you think is the T or an 8, so it's nice if you can set up a general plan in the case that a T or 8 falls. I try to think ahead like this when I have time, but it can get pretty difficult. Plus I can get lazy. :/

that would just be a call down, I would still have a few outs to improve on the river, and by the river it would be worth a call in case he has AK or AQ or some random bizarro hand (never know I had a guy check-raise bluff me with K8o on a board of J 6 4 2).
