I was looking for some advice here, specifically from someone like Alex or Steve-O who has played these type of games.
There is a Dealer's Choice cash game at my local casino. Minimum buy-in is £100 and Blinds are £1-£2. I am not sure of Max buy in or average buy in, but can find out of you feel it is crucial. There is a table charge of £3 per hour but no rake or tipping. The game usually is full with 9-10 players.
All games are played pot limit and are as follows:
- Hold 'Em
- Irish (With 3-6 cards and you must discard down to 2 after flop betting)
- Pineapple (3 - 6 Cards and discard down to 2 preflop)
- Omaha (With 4-6 cards)
- Omaha Hi-Lo (With 4-6 cards)
- 7 Card Stud
- 7 Card Stud Hi-Lo
- Lowball (A2346 is the nuts)
I am definitely a winning player in standard NL Hold 'Em although I have played very little Pot Limit. I have also played a bit of Irish and Pineapple recently and am happy with tose games (although not with morethan 3 cards). I have a good understanding of PLO and PLO Hi-Lo from reading but have played very few hands. I am a total novice in any form of Stud.
If I set my goal as being able to beat this game consitently within a few months, what advice would you give me (Except don't bother)?

If you're novice in stud then you need to read some stud books and play some stud games. The odds are totally different ot hold em style games.

Poker is poker, once you realize what a good hand is the strategies are pretty easy to learn. I mean, top 2 is a strong hand in hold em but not so much in Omaha, a lot of people can;t make this adjustment.
Play it ultra tight to start and as you pick up the nuances make the proper adjustments. I learned Omaha 8 by only playing A2 hands for about a month, and PLO by playing only 10% of my hands. Don't try to go into a new game with the idea you can play optimally from the get go, staryt off conservatively and make the appropraite adjustments.Read my musings on poker and life at Online Poker Examiner, Poker Examiner, PokerNewsBoy.com, and My Poker Blog

I think no-limit stud would be the craziest game ever.

Definately play very tight in the games that you dont know as well, and always pick your best game when you are dealer. If you pay attention you can easily figure out what game is each person's best and you can tighten up accordingly, depending on who you in a pot with.
