I buy into a $5 NLH game with 10 players. 3rd gets money back, and I think the other money goes 70/30 or 60/40. We all get around $60 in chips. Anyways, the luck isn't going my way in this tourney. Through two hours the play, I've gotten 4 playable hands. I got 99, 33, QJsuited, K9suited(small blind), and I didn't win with any of them. I'm down to $22 with only 8 people left, and we have 3 people with big stacks so I need to make a move soon. Blinds are $1/$2. I'm holding QsJd, and I just limp in. The flop comes Kd10d6d. The person in front of me bets $4, and I move all-in. I put her on top pair or maybe a flush draw also, but I'm going to take my chances with the Jack. She calls her remaining chips which leaves me $1.50. She flips over Kh6s. Next card is a King, and I'm down to $1.50, and lose the next hand(big blind).
Was this a bad play? I figured I had 9 flush cards and 6 straight cards. That gives me 15 outs, and its a toss-up unless she has a higher flush.

Wrong Move?

Well, I'm making some guesses, but it seems like the tournament format probably sucked. How many chips did you start with? Seems like people still making $4 bets at 8 people left is a sign of a poorly arrange tourney, don't play in those.

We started with around $60 in chips. Blinds increased every 30 minutes.

1. QJ is really not a playable NL hand. Especially in a SnG format with 5+ people.
2. 11xBB, isnt that desparate, but you shouldnt be limping with hands like this.
3. Flop play was fine.
4. At 20-30 hands per hour, playing 3-4 hands in 2 hours isnt unusual.

Trust me, QJ was playable at this table. I've been watching people raise all night with top pair and a weak kicker(and thinking it was the best hand). I was just drooling waiting for an AQ or AK or even a AJ, but I never got it.

ok, you guys are right, QJ is great, limp in for 8% of your stack with it - good luck.

Than how did you burn through $38 or your $60 with only 1/2 blinds?

well your 1st wrong move was playing in this tourney. even if you win which is only like 10% you will be making like $5/hr cuz that took so long lol
#2 is limping with QJ and that stack either raise or fold. id fold
flop was fine obvious push.
