    Default Rebuys

For those of you who have played and had good success in rebuy tourneys at any level. what is a good rebuy strategy that has worked for you. When do you rebuy/addon, how many times, etc. thanks

well i cashed last night, so im a pro.

you need a bigger roll than regular for rebuy. essentially you wanna minimum 1 double up, before the period. this is bare minimum. to have less is uneceptable.

so for 1$ we get 1500 + rebuy 1$ = 3k. before rubuy ends you must have 6k+ (and + add on = 7.5k chips)

this means first playing good, hoping to win some coin flips, or bluff out on big pots, however if you dont win or get lucky, you really have tpo start gambling. this could cost you a few buy ins. like last night, I called off about 80BB during 3rd level w/ 67 vs QQ and AK, flop was 548 and i triple up, and thus didn't spend any extra rebuys.

then add on period = automatic add on. I was CL @ my table, but this didnt matter, get all the chips you can.

now its just a regular tourny.

Play loose, Rebuy often. I usually want to quadruple up at the very least, to have an edge.

Although the players at the table will benefit from loose play, it doesn't matter since the tables are reshuffled after the break so it only matters what stack you have in relation to the average.

    Default rebuys

All other things being equal.. and for a tournament which is NOT a qualifier and has a "standard" payout structure.

If you assume that all the other players are of the same standard as you (not a bad assumption because your edge is very small) then you work out the rebuy/addon overlay..

In essence you watch the total amount of money going in rebuys and assume everyone will addon.

You need to get fewer rebuys than the average player - if you do that then you get an "overlay". If you exceed the average number of rebuys - then you are subsidising the tournament.

The addon does complicate things. If the average number of rebuys as you approach the end of rebuy period, is 3x what you put in it can be worth taking less than a coin flip to double up. However - for most tournaments I've seen the average rebuy is usually about 1.5 ish. This means that TYPICALLY -you should rebuy once - and addon...

There again ppl accuse me of taking a money grabbing/cynical attitude MTTs (the most famous thread ever posted here - it ended up on TV!!-) was about me corrupting the nobel art of MTT's

As a caveat - remember I go out to win money - the process of winning an MMT has no value to me other than its effect on the bottom line...

This depends on whether you're asking about online rebuys or casino rebuys.

Most casino rebuys don't price the rebuy the same as the entry fee and there are different rules as to when you're eligible to rebuy depending on the house. I only ask because I know you just moved to Chicago and you PM'd me about casino info.

in this case im asking about online rebuys, ive been doing pretty well in the tourneys lately, and want to maximize my bankroll/payout. I dont want to risk more than bankroll can mathematically allow, but the payouts in rebuys are just so much more than a freezeout. The only time i played a rebuy was over a year ago, i didnt know what it was, and just bought in and never rebought or added on. i actually placed simply because of morons pushing with shitty cards, but looking back realize what a dog i was.
has anyone here made any significant money playing these? is it worth it for me to play these or should i just stick with the freezeouts and sngs which have been working

I dont understand what you mean. If you dont get chips to the table by rebuying, there's no way you can quadruple up quickly unless you've got some enormous unusual amount of luck.

If you just double up and dont catch any cards after the break, you quickly find yourself in push/fold mode.
