Default One of the strangest hands I have ever played

    http://www.pokerhand.org/?508712

Comments on all of the hand.

If you tell me to fold PF - EAT ME. I am not laying down 10js to a discounted raise (I am the BB). I am looking to hit the flop and re-evaluate. If I totally miss, I am check/folding. If I catch a piece of it, I know how to play it down here. Would I fold at any spot post flop in a bigger game? you bet.

the flop - I am looking to close off any flush draws that may be out there with this guy. The way he bets pre-flop, he still has a pretty open range. Anywhere from AKs down to AJs. It's possible he has AA-1010, but for the most part they put in small raises down here to bring people along. I am not really afraid of that.

I am ESPECIALLY not afraid of it when he pops it up that much. he would be afraid of losing me. I am thinking here maybe he has a low FD (he raised a SC in EP??) and wants me gone.

I cold call, he could be playing A10 K10 Q10 here, but I don't think he is that ballsy for that re-raise.

I am DEFINETLY not up against a set here. He's not raising that small of pocket pairs that early. He is NOT raising me on this flop. He is afraid of losing me.

Turn: Board pairs. I check. Why? I'm fucking confused as to what is going on. He goes all in. I am getting about 2-1 on my money now. I am pretty sure he is not playing a FH at the moment, he's not going all in. he does not want to lose me.

    I call.

    DO YOU? WHY?

    Why did I call:

    1. I was really confused and wanted to see what he had. The odds were pretty good. I had a DECENT hand, not a great hand.
    2. The all in is fishy.
    3. Once again, I just wanted to see. I was already up for the night and this would still allow me to be postive for the night. I have seen this guy play on and off, but I don't have enough PT hands to do any tracking. If I am to see this guy on a regular basis, i want a read.

BEFORE YOU LOOK. Name what hand you think he has.

I dont mind your call, but this flop isn't great for you. If you call with such hands OOP you really need to hit the flop hard, ideally you catch a piece of the flop and have a SD/FD as extra outs.

Fortunately he was short-stacked, otherwise you really gotta fold this hand at some point. Essentially you're gambling he has 88-99 rather than JJ-QQ (I fully agree with your analysis but JJ/QQ is imo just as likely as 88-99.)

Dafish - I agree with you. Had he not been a shortstacked, I fold quick.

    He could just be drunk..but..

    Pretend you're him..

He's raised preflop and got you heads up. He has mid pair. Ironically he is betting to protect his hand aginst the flush draw too!!.

If he's tight his range is very likely to dominate you.. Aks AQs AJs, AT,KQs, KJs, KT,QT. The holdings you are ahead of are AK,AQ,98 (cbing- but marginal) and 88 (which I guess he'd play the same).

He could have made a set (77,TT and even 55 raised late for the blinds) AGAIN he is protecting against the flush...

Looking at the spread I put you on about 30/70 underdog for this betting pattern... from the flop - the five on the turn keeps you there..

You would have rivered him on most of his holdings but he would have been justified in saying "nh"!!!
