So I'm just looking for some general feedback on early play strategy. I do have pokertracker but I'm not gonna give exact info. I have won several small buy in tournies. General Strategy, I play very tight early in tournies... Playing nothing but premium hands... Throw in the suited connectors in position for cheap and haven't had any real problems with that..
My real question and what I would like some feedback on is early tournie raises. The problem I find is I try to mask my bets making the raises consistent. FINE! The problem is I find 3-4 time BB, is not a big enough raise to get a wanker with 1500 chips out calling with 2-7o.
Which I don't mind the call generally. Anyways... So here's the solution, right? RAISE MORE! Well then what I find is I have a problem controlling early tournament pots. Which as anyone who plays low limit games knows... Pot control is not accounted for in any $10 buy in MTT strategy.. 74o Is as good a hand as any to go out on when you flop top pair.
So I would just like some feedback. Thanks!

If it works, keep it up. I play pretty loose early on depending on the site and starting stack and hope to get a quick race post-flop and double up early. I tighten up as others loosen up and hopefully get a few good spots to crush someone paying attention to their M when I have a monster.
I hate, hate, hate just "surviving" and then having to get to the all-in/fold stage right around the bubble. I like accumulating chips, and I like accumulating them early.
Works well for me in those nightly UB tournies at 9:01 where the fields are almost always 700+. I've played 3 and monied all 3 (43rd, 31st, and 19th).
But if what you're doing ain't broke, no need to fix it.BOSS

meh.. i like to play very loose in early tourneys... especially if my stack consists of over 60BBs.. i will play almost every single hand dealt to me.. assumming no one raises pf.. the whole point of playing loose is that since there are so many donkies in early tourney, if u hit ur hand very hard on the flop.. you can usually double up off a donky who cant find the fold button..
and when im dealt QQ+, AK.. i just push it all in pf... the reason why this works, is cuz u will get called by 22-JJ, AQ AJ AT KQ.. even A9-A2 sometimes... alot more often then u will get called by KK or AA.
