Default My Sit and Go strategies.

Feel free to comment, add, dispute, etc.

I try to lay low early on. Play very tight. Not a single bluff for sure. Lots of players seem to not notice there are only 10 or so players or just don't care. I let them eliminate each other. You only have to survive 10 players. Three or four will eliminate each other/themselves. However if I see a shot to eliminate one (someone pushes and I got AA or KK) I call. So early on I only play the nuts.

Once we hit 4-6 players I gamble a little bit. Play more marginal hands. If I am chip leader I may call BB with anything. Called with a 7-2 and flopped a full house. Now is the time to stack chips and get rady for the last 3 in the money. It is survival. Everyone knows they are a few players from the money.

Once it is the final 3 I am in the money. I play a lot looser and gamble even more. WIth the size of the blinds your chip stack can change. A low kicker is now a strong hand. I may even push with it. If I get to buy the blinds then so be it. If I get a caller I have a good shot. If I get put out I finished in the money.

Honestly, in a lower level SNG all you have to do is stick to good cards, play them in position, raise appropriately, and over the long run you will win. People play like crap in lower level SNGs.

Now higher level...

I dont know. Never played them.

Your strategy is used by everyone (including me) and it works.

I don't agree with calling BB with anything with big stack part, but otherwise it seems like a standard strategy.

Key to winning SnG's is being able to steal blinds when it's 5-6 handed. If you can do this well (taking reads and situations into consideration), you are a winning player. Also, try to finish top 2 when ITM.. don't gamble too much, you can still play some poker.

Also, I started $50+5 SnG's and this "standard" strategy is totally working so far. I do not know about $100+9's.. I guess I'll find out 6 months later.

As everyone says the strategy you use is pretty standard. I play $22s on Pacific and can win fairly regularly. I went up to the $33s and got screwed, the reasons for this I thought were...

1) I got a lot of bad luck.
2) Everyone playes the same way

I think 2) was the main problem, the fact that everyone has the same strategy means that the blinds get so huge in comparison to the stack sizes that you end up having to attempt steals with average hands and eventually you either get caught or you race your chips with someone on a 50/50.

I'd love to know of some advanced strategy for when you get a table of 8 or 9 people all playing this way, anyone?

It's hard to believe you are having hard time at $30+3, because there are still plenty of donkeys playing at $30+3 level.

People play the standard way and it's not unusual to find 8 ppl playing when blinds are 50/100 (PS standard). However, people tend to panic soon after, and they eliminate themselves out. Again, key is to pick a good spot and steal and stay alive till it's 4-5 handed.. such as moving in with marginal hands when it's folded to you and you are SB. I would move in with any face card in that situation.

SnGs are the most frustrating things in poker. It's why I quit them.
