    Default loose passive = more $ ?

    Hi all,

I'm some what new to poker and I play limit holdem at partypoker. I've noticed at the lower limit, tight agressive doesn't work that well because, I suppose, raises don't mean much to a drunkard with daddy's credit card.

    Is this an obvious conclusion?

    Passive will never = $.
Loose vs tight is up for debate. At the lower limits I like to play loose and with some skillfull post-flop play it can be very profitable.

But loose or tight, aggression is the key.

Loose passive (calling station) is never a long term winner though it can be a short term winner on good days.

im playing micro for the first time at vc with their $10 deal. I started a little looser than normal (s-t p/a)and did good my first day and got stationed to death my second. My third day I went from my normal semi-tight pas/agg to tight pass/agg and ive been killing them for 2 days now. i am playing total assassin mode now, fold to any preraise with a hand I dont like, don't fill my my sb with a hand I dont like, call only with draws that have odds, raise my big pre hands, lay easy when i don''t board or check call if i think im good but the board is a little scary, and fully attack when i hit a hand because the bozos call bb pre with k4 and I got kq and when K hits they call me all the way down with their non-kicker.

So I think going tpa is they way to go on really loose low stake tables. yea i still get outdrawn sometimes but I also scalp half a table when i hit and pot bet+ down. then after at a table for a while and they know im a killer, all of a sudden they aren't chasing me any more and I can revert back to s-tpa and play normal (fill my sb etc...).

    loose passive is awful.

you should either play tight agressive, or loose agressive.

LP means not only do you let ppl see cheap flop, you let them outdraw you. also your letting them controll the pot, so your bluff will always be inacurate.

imo LP is the only style thta you are guaranteed to lose at. (even against 9 other :LPS)

Loose passive can be profitable if you are playing a super-aggressive donk who thinks he's gus hansen, other than that.... no good.
    BB is t100
Preflop: Hero is UTG with :3d :5d,
    Hero raises to t500

Well, let me clarify. Maybe I don't know what loose passive really means.

I started by playing "supertight is right" ala Hellmuth, but then I noticed I was being chased out of pots I should have been in by people who had nothing. When I started playing lower pairs and even unsuited conected (depending on position and who I was playing) my wins picked up a little espically against people who went to the flop 80% of the time.

I also noticed that a preflop raise just doesn't mean anything to a lot of the folks on the micro tables. Now, I always raise on the flop in order to protect a good pocket. But if I have 44-77 and nothing on the flop can beat it, it seems like I do better to slowplay someone fishing for a draw even with something as small as 66.

    Is that loose passive?

This sort of sums up what I'm asking:

Loose passive is also known as a calling station. Doesnt bet hands or at least doesnt bet unless really strong and just calls anything down hoping to make a hand.

If u think u got best hand, bet it and let someone else prove you wrong by raising, and even if u are not best they may fold their winner anyway.

Preflop raising is just raising with 2 cards. Everyone's hand is expanded by 150% more cards to use on the flop, so preflop raising means little preflop in poker except to guide your actions through the hand and people aren't gonna laydown when they hit the board in many games when you raise preflop because they called you to hit the board. They called accepting that if they were wrong to call, they'll pay for it. So, you just need to start reading people's patterns better to pick your spots better after the flop. Anyone can read a book and follow a hand chart.
