It sounds like you're saying that a great player's postflop edge over a field of players isn't good enought to make the game worth playing in strictly b/c of rake. (You're only making 3-4BB/hr vs rocks)
So because of the rake, not only do you need a postflop edge, you need to be able to exploit a substantile preflop edge (ie >50% games) in order to make the game worht playing in.
As for attacking the blinds: the correct strategy in tight games is to attack the blinds. There aren't limpers to capitalize on. But there is some inherent problem in attacking the blinds. On one hand, you want them to call with weaker hands, which they usually won't because they are tight. So it is difficult to exploit your edge by raising. On the other hand, if you just limp preflop, the blinds get a cheap look at the flop, and you end up never having exploited your preflop edge. So your goal is to get them to call your raises with weaker hands, meaning you make small raises 3 or 4xBB. But even when they do call, you didn't really gain much preflop in terms of expectation or EV. So attacking the blinds, though it is the correct PF strategy, is not really that profitable of a preflop strategy in the first place. And when the blinds do give you action, it begins to resemble more of a postflop battle instead. And as said before, exploiting a postflop edge isn't enough to make the game worth playing in. (Though you will still make a profit.)
Sounds good? Or am i missing something.
