ok lets see how you guys go about this
MTT field of 140
as of now the field is cut in half at about 70 people. average stack is 5k, we have 7k. blinds are 100/200. table has many noticable bad LAG and weak players.
we have![]()

in the SB
there are 2 limpers, we complete the blind, and the BB checks. we have no reason to believe somebody has slowplayed a good starting hand to this point.

most would agree we should bet here. in this spot i chose to bet 600 in the 800 chip pot.
i got one caller, an unknown in LP.
the turn came the
so we have top pair, good kicker, with a king high spade draw.

I if don't raise there preflop, I am looking for better than top pair on the flop.
That said if I did limp I'd take a stab at it for probably about the 600 you did.
The turn's either a great card or a horrific one depending entirely on the other guy's hand and you have no clue what it is. I'd bet 1000 here, laydown if reraised big and if I'm called pray for the spade.

We're out of position, we didn't raise PF, and now we've seen a scare card hit the turn . . . it's time to slow down and keep this pot small. It would be nice to know how many chips villian has left . . .
I'd check/call the turn, then lead the river if the spade, K, or Q hits. . . .
Otherwise check/call the river.
Next time you suspect people are just limping with crap and you have KQs in the SB, please raise!!!!Jason75: Ok, you check and the button bets 400. Now what?
Beavis68: You play poker.
Jason75: Darn, I was really hoping for canasta. Maybe Gin.

PF- At this stage in the tourney, you can be SURE that people are raising with AA, KK, QQ, AK and AQ, so if there's one advantage to your spot here in the SB is that we have a lot of information that any King or Queen are good for you. How good is up to you and is not in what you do PF, but how you follow up each PF decision. Each Flop and Turn suggestion will match the PF decision I bring up here.
1.) You can call looking for a large hand and you keep the pot small.
2.) You can raise to t600, but you're might go 3 way and when you do, you'll have an excuse to check when you miss the flop because you'll miss it 2 out of 3 times and when you miss, someone'll else'll most likely hit. You'll give yourself a good chance to go heads up, though.
3.) You can really push the envelope and play this like you would if you were being aggressive with AK with a raise to 1k with the intention of taking the pot, calling a small raise to a shorty all in, or put at least 2k+ in the middle on any flop. If an Ace hits, you'll have to know your opponent a bit, but you'll usually be up against a small that's gonna miss.
Flop
1.) You have to lead, but the pot's only t800, so t500 is as effective as t800 here. I'd put a good ol' t666 in the middle here and deal with people individually on a raise.
2.) You've hit the card that you wanted. Bet t1500 into a 3-way pot; t1200 heads up.
3.) You're OOP and you've been called PF which is why you're here, but you are heads up. Checking is not an option even against a tight opponent because this is a great spot for him to put you in a bad thinking spot. t2k does the job.
Turn
1.) Definite scare card, but you're here because the pot was kept small and someone with a set would've come over the top with a raise because of the clubs and some KJ fears might arise. You're only scared of a ten. You hit a FD. So check/calling is good because whatever you have to call won't be too large even on a 99, 88, 77, AJ bluff or a QJ or Q9.
2.) I think you're up against KJ or Ax of clubs. Bet t2500-t3000.
3.) You've committed to yourself to a push.
How I play this
In these spots, I'll raise it up to t666 PF, bet t1313 HU, t1666 3-way. With 2 callers, I'll check/call the turn with 3 opponents. HU, I'll bet t3013. I stick with the QJ or club draw and I'm not getting a fold, but I'm willing to fold to a club which few would bet on the river if it hits without a club for fear of being trapped and the pot's too big to not jeopardize their whole stack. If a spade hits the river, I'll push in a second. No one will see it coming and QJ's fishy/pot committed. I'd think that I eliminated QT PF qhile KT and AT aren't large fears because I'd have to let to action dictate my read in the virtual poker world. I think a ten is testing the waters with a min. raise on the flop.

i agree with alex, anything less than the pot is showing weakness, commit them to the draw and when the spade card that completes there draw a or 9 push
