I know limping with AK isnt exactly smart but I do it every so often to mix it up. When the flop it I was pretty sure I was ahead.....until the BB bet and the other two called. I didnt put anyone a set due to everybody limping so i figured Id try and raise enough to take the pot down. Then the BB re-raised all-in. To be honest I nearly folded, but his limp from the BB just made me think i had the best of it, so I called.

Obviously I won the pot but im not too sure about my play here.

I dont like the limp with AK but I guess the only thing to say in your defence was that you didnt have position to act after the flop so youd basically be using slight deception to entice people into the pot, that is if you hit something good which you did and they do too...

With a flop like that Im fearing, in the following order:
    • at worst JQ (Since this is a very common hand to limp with)
    • a set with TT (Since people dont limp with KK,AA)
    • Someone with 2 hearts - I know its no harm to us now but if they get a 3rd then were down to just a few outs.
The fact that he reraised all in after overbetting the pot means either a set with TT which for me seems unlikely and its either 2 pair like TA, AK, or TK, or the worst for me is JQ.... In the circumstances I dont know the odds of someone holding JQ out of 6 players but its one of those hands you have to play out and take notes on the guy next time since hes likely to make the same push/call again.

Imagine limping with a weaker hand like 76s and it comes 765 someone could easily have 84 or 89 or even 43 but you need to push hard sometimes to find out. Once youve found out how they play hands in certain situations it makes calling much easier. Most of the time im still calling this though and like ive said im only fearing JQ, top two pair is the minimum im calling an all in with in this case. If I had TK (Bottom two pair) and someone pushed HARD on a flop like this im seriously considering folding - since you have no idea where you could be in the hand.
