Villain has been pretty conventional, and pretty tight. Not played many hands, and not been close to all in yet. I have not been stealing, I think this was maybe the second time I had raised his BB. At this stage, do I take this chance?

AQ strong enough here?

How does villian raise to 3120 when he's only got 2920? The stacks should be listed pre posting of the blilnds.
Anyways, If I were him, I'm looking to get assertive and build a stack here, not dribble into 3rd. 2 CL's, and 2 shorts. But the smaller of the 2 is not super small compared to villians stack, so they are almost equally in danger. He views this, if he's decent like you say, as an attack on his blinds. 4 handed, unless you have been here for a while, players change gears, and he may be doing so. Personally, I can make this move with KJo+, so I'd be tempted to call this.Last edited by Marm; 06-25-2006 at 09:32 PM.
Marm is back, maybe. Been off for 3 years. Rusty as Hell.

1. If you fold you lose 600 and still remain 2nd CL
2. If you call and lose your now short stack - win = CL by almost 3000
3. BB going all-in removes any ability to outplay him from position - advantage his!
4. It's always better to be the aggrssor than the defender - he has taking your pf raise and is making you decide to defend.
5. A-Q is a huge dog to AA/KK/QQ/AK and a coin flip to pocket pairs JJ or under
6. Pot odds are 3820 to 2520 or about 1.5-1 - barely enough for even a marginal call.
I think I fold!Last edited by Aces-o-8s; 06-25-2006 at 10:30 PM.

Well, I just wanted to see if I got a bunch of "HOLY SHIT, AQ 4-handed is a beast, this guy is just being a bully, you can't let him do that to you" responses. I only got one "maybe" from Marm.
There are a lot of opponents I make that call on. Quite possibly more than half the time. It was a tough decision, but the opponent pushed it toward "FOLD" quite a bit."They swore they wanted character guys, but then they signed a DUI guy and a guy sleeping with a reporter and that's fine, but I got character issues?"

When you haven't been stealing much:
Against a tight opponent like this who doesn't make these all in moves . . . fold every day and twice on sunday. You're likely a coinflip at best . . .
Against a looser opponent or one prone to restealing, call.
BTW, on the bubble, you need to steal every opportunity possible. And when you raise, you really need to put in the lesser amount of: 1/3 your stack, 1/3 the largest stack remaining (but at least 4 BB). You need people to know that you're just about pot committed (even though you're not) . . . this discourages resteals.Last edited by Jason75; 06-26-2006 at 12:04 PM.
Jason75: Ok, you check and the button bets 400. Now what?
Beavis68: You play poker.
Jason75: Darn, I was really hoping for canasta. Maybe Gin.
