Well, actually its if you will get 3 callers then you raise for value, but beavis is correct.

True, I meant to put that in there you have to figure that they will call (at least two). Of course, if they all fold, that would fine

I don't see a good player raising on the river there w/o a boat or better. It's been check called by that many openents and then one leads out on the river when the 3rd club hit, i wouldn't expect a strong player to raise with just a jack.

Weak players will raise with a lower flush.

What's he raising here? J8? JJ? 66? Maybe he got lucky and hit his 88 but I dont think so.

Good point I wasn't thinking about a lower flush.

Bonch, you know better than to call a flush "the nuts" with the board paired.

Your pot equity is less when somebody has a full house redraw, meaning you need more opponents to raise a flush draw for value when someone has trips, even though technically you still have 8 outs.

With 8 outs, you have about a 31.5% chance of hitting your hand. Nine outs is ~35%, you can't do the pot equity calc on all the what if's, just in how many outs you have to make your hand.

If you don't agree with me, take it up with Ed Miller and David Sklansky because that is where I learned it and their method is good enough for me
