Second hand at the table, picked up the blinds in the BB, Is this the right play for the action? I'm new to SS and figured I'd play with the free $10 on AP, so I hadn't done any studying on it yet.
Analyze please. Yes I won, But that is far from the point here.

well, what would u do with 41bbs in a tourney given the same action?
I like playing with between 25 and 30 blinds. I would be all in PF there.

I'd raise to $4 in an isolation attempt and push a good flop. A good flop is one where you want a call. Your not gonna get flops with Jacks that are iffy. You either want a call or you're done. The short stack help to get those calls on good flops.
This was that kind of flop, but people won't fold AK, AQ, and AJ and sometimes KQ in these games PF. For that reason, I'd see a flop, get my money in with more information. There's no rush to build a pot in this game with these players.
I had a River Rats thread with a Jacks hand last night where I did what you did. Overbet to take the pot, but there were about 5.5bb's in that pot like yours, so it's not like I won't do it. You have the best hand and this situation goes either way. Even a well programmed robot doesn't play your hand in this situation the same way twice.

4 bucks is too much of your stack. That is fine if you have 20 or more each but this 10 that is just dicking around and putting too much pressure on yourself post flop, giving the guy a chance to out play you, and yeah bad players can outplay good players in big pots, happens all the time,

Problem is, on AP, you have to BI for 40 bets.... ($10 on a .25 bb table).... I think they have max buyins of 200 though.....

There's no gray area on a flop here where you wanna knock people off of a hand and people are playing their cards, not their odds. You can tell that and save $6. If you think someone's calling anything for $4 that they won't call for $10 at this table, you're high. The same hands are getting in and you're getting paid if you have the best hand. Nothing wrong with takin a peek.
I also said it can go either way and brought up a situation where I as recently as last night made a similar move with Jacks.
I also said that even a well programmed robot won't play this the same way every time.
I'm done repeating myself. This is stupid.

That said, with this format, the push is perfect. I'd think that the normal raise gets pretty high and this raiser showed weakness with his pussy raise.

PS has a higher min buy in too.
I dont want to have to decide if the flop is good or bad for me, then I am guessing about my opponents hand. Any time you guess, you can make costly mistakes.

I definitely see what you're saying, but the flops are pretty mindless with Jacks in many cases. To waste words:

3.) If he has AK-A9 or KQ, he's calling anything. You get outdrawn on 3 cards or 5 cards? Your choice.
This is why I say that this can go either way because such a minute amount of flops will he have to call because he's pot committed. We're not looking at round by round because all $10 is going in, but this isn't a tourney. There's no do or die. There's do or reload- another reason why this goes both ways.
