Stud 8b - no PFR

Personally, I dislike not raising this hand. I don't want high hands drawing on me or backing into a low. I want this pot as shorthanded as possible.
AA is a nice hand in stud, far from unbeatable, in stud 8 it is alright at best. Not the hand you want many opponents with. after you is an Ace, an Eight, and a Three + the deuce who was the bring in, too many people chasing low means too many people backing into a high and vice versaRead my musings on poker and life at Online Poker Examiner, Poker Examiner, PokerNewsBoy.com, and My Poker Blog

good points.
I usually raise with any AA unless it is a crappy high with a dead ace or kicker.

AA2 is marginal draw, but probably the best hi at the time. You have to raise that Ace door, no matter what's underneath unless you're folding in a loose-passive game. The aggression was good, but when you're at 5th St., you have to seriously reasess your position and put people on hands.
You know where 2 Aces are, but you only know where 5 hearts are. I really don't see any reason to call 6th. Jr.'s outdrawn you to the Hi half and the jobber's got his lo. You're drawing dead more times than not.
Back to 3rd, I always raise the lowest door on the board. I'll raise the second lo if the lowest is counterfeited on board. I don't know what Jr. had in the hole, but I can't see him calling a raise before 4th St. You had the grand oppurtunity to be the aggressor after the bring-in and it lost you the Hi. With AA2 and heads up with job, you can scoop because the cards will fall differently.

by the way, the flush scooped, the other guy double paired and called him anyway.

Oooch. I'd say 4 out of 5 showdowns I lose, I lose this way. It's a real kick in the nuts. How do you feel about raising the lowest door? It filled a huge gap in my S8 game that was lacking and took me from a weak break even player above water. I find myself more confident and reading hands 10X better when that orbit comes up.

an Ace is on exception, I raise an ace up most of the time to keep the high hands and low hands guessing.

I would like to here more about what you mean by it, you mean just always raising from the bring in?
