    Default JJ on CO+1

Was pretty pissed off at myself for calling the turn bet, but I didnt have much of a read on this guy (Although I had a strong feeling I was behind). My Question is... since I made the turn call, should I have called this river? I think I would have called up to $3, but the $5 bet just looked like too much of a value bet. Criticism of my play welcome...thanks

I shut down after the flop. I also only bet .50 or .60 at the .75 pot instead of doubling it (looks like you have even less and are trying to steal it).

I'd say you were beat by a smaller pair here but lost more money than you should've.

I mainly play 6max NL so take this with a pinch of salt, but after the 2 limpers in front of you I would raise this up to around $1.50-$1.75. You need to get the ace-rags to fold and take control of the hand. With a 3x raise just one caller behind you means that the 2 limpers are likely to come along for the ride.

I think you were right to lead the flop and represent the ace - a bigger pre flop raise might have helped here as well. After the call and being out of position I agree with SeanyBullets and I shutdown, because I think the villain has a reasonable ace. EDIT : Just checked the pot size on the flop and it's $3.50 - I would have lead for about $2.50 - $3. Depending on how good the villain is he could have read your half pot bet size for weakness.

The turn in this hand is where the main decision is and he makes a tempting bet(3-1), but a call here would suggest that you are calling the river and the $5 bet is a value bet by villain imo.

Raise atleast 1.50 PF and raise 2/3 pot on the flop. If they stay in then your probably beat.

This is heavily read dependent as to whether you put Villian on bigguns or baby pair. If biguuns, you walk a fine line between facing an Ace or a flush draw. I'd give it up after the flop for that reason MANY more times than not.

Thanks for the input. I agree that a 1.50 raise preflop, and 2/3 bet on the flop would have gave me a better stance at where I really was.

I have been going over this hand though in my head, I really think that he might of had 88 (maybe 99) here.

If he had a Ace, I think he would of had A10-AQ to just call my raise preflop (Assuming he would re-raise with AK, fold with A-rags). But then his turn bet would not make too much sence. I would think he would want to try and take the pot down right there. Instead he sends out a little teaser (giving me 3.25-1 pot odds) bet, which I should have picked up as "please call me, actually better yet re-raise me cause I know you got something". I think the river bet (again giving me 3-1 odds to call) kinda comfirms for me at least that he had something big.

Either that or Im reading way too much into his play and was badly bluffed out of this pot.
