I had been getting pretty bad starting hands for the first couple rounds of this tourney, so I was seen as fairly tight. I thought I'd try stealing a pot here with a modest hand like K-10, but it got way out of control. When should I have given up? I thought based on my observation so far that this guy was fairly tight, but apparently not. Go ahead, tell me how badly I fucked this up.

Did your notes say anything aobut this guy calling down with Ace high? They should.

Heh... he hadn't tried that play on me yet.

Just pushed him all in with AJ on a J52 flop, he calls me and catches a king on the river to beat me with AK. Not too fond of this guy.
Good thing I had him waaaaay covered... I'm still in the hunt I guess.

Hahahaha... the saga continues. I raised to 4xBB with KK, he called me thinking it was a steal. Flop comes K82, check check, turn is a ten, check check, river is an ace, I bet pot-size, he raises, I call, he shows A2.

edit: LOL, just read the hand history... apparently I was wrong, the flop was K83. He had just the one pair, no kicker.

Dont slow play in SnG or very rarely.

Not a SNG... it's a multitabler... but why not though?

I always get into trouble when I slowplay, so now I try to use it sparingly. I mainly only slowplay now if Im pretty sure im way ahead in the hand, like with a set or a straight.
P.S. I dont see that much wrong with your play except maybee you could bet more on the turn to represent the jack, but somepeople cant put down a big starting hand no matter whats on the board

Lets go to Sklansky
In most cases, for a slowplay to be correct, all of the following must be true:
1.) You must have a very strong hand.
2.) The free or cheap card you are allowing other players to take must have a strong possibility of making them a second-best hand.
3.) That free card must have little chance of making someone a better hand than yours or even giving that person a draw to a better hand than yours.
4.) You must be sure you will drive other players out by showing aggresion, but you have a good chance of winning a big pot if you don't.
5.) The pot must not be very large“There's no sense in being precise when you don't even know what you're talking about.” - John von Neumann

If you raised to 4xBB and he called the pot is already large enough to justify a bet.
On fourth there is a good chance he is calling with any 2 cards over 9.“There's no sense in being precise when you don't even know what you're talking about.” - John von Neumann

If you flop a boat vs a flush draw in a small pot is one thing, but top set in a raised pot is different.
