Ok, here's the history:
Villian is fairly tight, except that for 5 consecutive times it's folded around to me on the Button or CO and I've raised (each time 3x the bb), he's come over the top for all his chips and I've reluctantly folded. Well, this time, tilt got the better of me . . . . I was thinking I'm getting 2.3:1 and probably a 3:2 favorite. Of course, K2 vs. a hand like 96o is actually a coinflip (55-45). Looking back I think this was perhaps and ill-advised call.
Thoughts ?

Jason75: Ok, you check and the button bets 400. Now what?
Beavis68: You play poker.
Jason75: Darn, I was really hoping for canasta. Maybe Gin.

What I don't like is that:
A.) You're playing one card.
B.) Your 2 gets trumped by both of Viliian's cards if one hits.
C.) You are dominated many, many times.
D.) And back to the deuces, Villian makes this move with 33 up to AA.
E.) You're playing numbers out of context. The story being that the stacks are way too close and you're the big stack in a SHALLOW STACK tourney.

I take it this was a steal attemp gone crazy when you mentally replaced your duece with an Ace and called the all-in?
The SB will be on tilt for a week at least!
BTW - nice hand! But I doubt I would have called the all-in!Last edited by Aces-o-8s; 06-03-2006 at 11:58 PM.

I think your clean against AK, KQ, KJ. however that is not the issue. the issue is;
its folded 5 times to you in a row, you raise eachtime OTB, and get caught last time.
so now, its folded to you again, you have real trash K2. (id be more comfortable w/ 97). let this go;
a. they remember what happened last time when youu were OTB
b. the table is fairly tight it seems (5x folded to you) so maybe skip this hand, and steal from the CO next hand.
c. K2 is not a hand i wanna get involved w/ for all my chips (or even get called w/ and see a flop)I get more ass than a toilet seat. All shapes/colors/sizes.

Actually, I think villian makes this move with any 2 cards.
The previous orbits, I folded A4s and K8o the same situation getting big odds. Frankly, I'd rather call it all in with the K2 than the A4 . . . .
Villian was making this a very tough table . . . he was a real player -- maybe even a SNG ringer (the others were just tools . . . at times I could read the suits of their cards by the way they played). When it folded around, I knew that if I raised, he'd go all in. I almost just went all in, but against 2 possible hands I didn't like the move. I figured if villian finally passed and BB reraised, I might be in real trouble and I could lay it down.
And at these blinds at a short table as the big stack, if you're not willing to raise any button that folds around . . .particularly a K-high hand, you shouldn't be playing SNG's. At least that's what I told myself when I forced the raise here. Ha!
To be quite honest, I knew when I made the raise I was tilting and was going to call the SOB if he did it one more time. After all, I'm Rick James Biatch.
Frankly, it's one of those "do the wrong thing at the right time moves" . . . this is one of those SNGs where you win without picking up a decent hand because of luck and sheer tenacity to keep raising every unopened pot.
Forget the call for a moment. . . . you're Me, on the button, it folds around. Blinds are steep . . . if you don't at least steal once per round (average) or pick up a big hand, you'll go from first to worst in a hurry.

If you're going to call a push I think you're better of pushing right away really.

again, this is why I dont like 3x raises, they are exploitable, especially at this stage of the tourney.
I have moved to allin for fold mode a few level before this.
