The fish were biting today...but they can be so tough to figure out.
My question is whether my river play was correct. No real reads on anyone, but these people were so damn passive I had no idea what they were going to showdown.

Re-raise and called the 3x. After the calls on the turn, you had to know/should have known, these calling stations were on an inside str8 draw, flush draw or had paired the board but without any feedback action you're stuck making value bets and hoping to improve better than they can. MP2 donked it right off the bat by not betting his top pair but that probably saved you a few bets in th end since he wasn't folding even if it went to 10th street!

Edit: Opps - make a mistake. your re-raise would be 3x and his last re-raise would cap!Last edited by Aces-o-8s; 06-01-2006 at 07:15 PM.

Well...
Bad beat section!
What can do... oviously river improve his hand and he already had something if he's not a total fish.
but you have to call due to pot odds...

I would have three bet.
He cold called preflop and there are not alot of hands that most people cold call with that contain a three. Possible he was slowplaying a set on the flop and smoothcalling but this also seems unlikely.
He very likely has a K and extremely unlikely he has KK so you are ahead here with any other king since you will have higher two pair. Good chance he has AK or QK.
Raise for value.
If he caps that is when I puke, but >95% here you are good.
Missing river value bets and raises like this are one of the most difficult concepts in limit hold'em and a major leak for most intermediate players (of which I think I and most of the limit players on this site are). I am constantly kicking myself when I miss these.

I think you should 3-bet the river. What could they have that a K now beats you? Nothing but KK. At worst your looking at AK, KQ, KJ, or even K10 against you. Anyone with a 3 would've raised the turn after you bet.

I think some of you are missing the fact that I won. I fear I left bets on the table though. I agree with Growlers assessment.

I three bet this. Alot of people will suspect you of bluffing with a unmade hand here, not sure if they realize that AK just landed though. You are'nt fearing a funky two pair, a set would have been known before, so we raise this. There isnt a hand in the deck that scare me right now.
Marm is back, maybe. Been off for 3 years. Rusty as Hell.
