Default What do you do?

Pot limit Omaha 8 $5/$5 blinds

An early position player bets the pot $25 (decent, plays good starting hands he has about $400)

you have and call. you have about $750.

And the big blind calls as well (A very strong player with about $1100).

the flop is giving you a steel wheel. the big blind bets the pot $80, and the early position player raises to $200. You call and are shocked when the BB moves you all in by raising $600 more. The EP player calls all in.

you have put in $250 and have $500 left, the total pot you are eligible for is about $1900. What do you do and why?

Call. If I pay off the 67h, so be it. You have to put someone on 67h in order to lose the hand. It is a definate possibility. Someone might just have 67, but that would be a very loose all-in. Someone could have two pair, and someone might have A2. You are definitely getting some of the pot. The set could also be a possibility hoping to get lucky and hit the boat, maybe with a low attached.

So, hell, I say call.

Call in a heartbeat.

It could be a bluff, it could be a K or Q-high flush, it could be 76o, it could be a set trying to drive out the draws.

Wow, that is ugly.

I would not think that people would be reraising at that level with 2nd nut.

I however, am not good enough to fold, I would just assume that my bankroll was big enough to handle this if I lost - which you probably will.

Here's the rub.

The big blind could have only 1 hand A267 with the 67 of hearts. I know this guy pretty well and he wouldn't move all in unless he thought he could quarter someone so I know he has both ways. The key to the read is he plays it aggressively knowing other people hit, he is not afraid of moving someone off the pot.

Dissecting the hand, he is a good player and called a raise preflop so he must have a good starting hand. he bets into a raiser and a caller on a real scary board on the flop, and reraises a big raise and a smooth call. Basically he knows someone hit a low and the ace high flush and his lock lock will get payed off. the only good starting hand that he doesn't mind eliminating players with is A267 with the 67 of hearts. He can't have the Ace high flush and he has to be aware it could be out there, If he has A255 he would have to assume the raiser already has the flush (or the smooth caller) so he wouldn't risk his stack whe he might get quartered or worse and he would definetly want to keep me in the hand since with a set he basically has a draw.

Having the Ace in my hand made this a pretty easy read on his hand but man this is a tough laydown.

The EP player is a definite A2 with some kind of high either a set or a flush.

So basically I'm drawing at a 6th of the pot in my mind. I can fold and lose the $250 or so i have put in, or put in anther $500 and collect $375.

I actually trusted my read and folded this hand, The BB did in fact have A267 with the 67 of hearts. And the EP was actually weaker than I thought with A256. So I saved $125.

After seeing the EP players hand the BB said to me "you must have had the Ace high flush". So I told him I had A36J with the AJ of hearts. Not a chance in hell I would let him know i laid down a steel wheel!

This hand happened about 5 months ago but I thought it would make some good conversation.

What a tough game. Man, what a bitch to flop that and have to fold. I would have to quit for the night after that....... That is why I am still a noob and would never consider going pro.

Actually this game wasn't overly tough it just happened that 3 players were dealt pretty strong hands at the same time.

The only guy I steered clear of in this game was the BB Rolf (not Slotboom, even though i was in that area of the world!)

If you play a lot of Pot limit Omaha or Omaha8 you have to make a lot of laydowns (although only when I play quality opposition), I've folded Aces full 3 times that I can remember, and was correct all 3 times, however i've probably called with Aces or Kings full 10 times that I shouldn't have.

I'll see if I can dig up some other interesting hands from my notes.
