i fucking hate sngs right now, i just continue to lose to either unfoldable hands and suckouts
i had to pot this on the flop right? and afterword with so much invested i couldnt really fold, considering the donk makes this play with basically any ace, maybe a FD, who really knows, i just pay the set or 2 pair

Near as I can tell you had a full family pot preflop with 8 limpers. A pot size bet against that many is probably the minium bet you should make to get most of them to fold (AK abhords a crowd prefering 1 or 2 opps at most!). A general formula I've seen is 3xBB plus 1BB for each limper over 1. With BB @ 60 That would be 3x + (8-1) = 600. Wow pretty big pf raise! I guess you could compremise between pot size and the formula and go with 400 or about 2x pot size! As it was you got 4 to fold with a 255 raise!
As the flop turned out I don't see how you could laydown TPTK with that board although a set had to be a considertion.
Look at from MP (pp 8) point of view. The whole table limps to BB and he raises to 255! That surely narrows BB's hand seelection to AA, KK or AK. Personally I would have folded the 88 but MP has bigger balls than brains so we'll have to go with that. OK, on the flop a miricle 8 for the braindead idiot in MP and you lead out for 90% of the pot. With 4 callers I think that's a good bet from a bad position - I won't mind taking the pot down right there but you have to get H2H at least. When MP re-raised all-in he was definately risking going up against a set of Aces but if you take your 90% bet into consideration it's not unreasonable for someone to figure you for only a pair of Aces and not a set - that would have likely been a more modest bet of 30-50% or even a check!
The idiot got lucky and I think the majority of players in your position would have played it much the same as you did. - What was the alternative - fold the AK preflop? Maybe but I' like a poll on how many really would!!Last edited by Aces-o-8s; 05-23-2006 at 05:11 PM.

Dude, you just got unlucky.
The way I play this one is to limp then jump all in on the flop.
Most of the time people call you with absolute crap, but every now and again you get nailed like this by a set.
That's poker baby.Jason75: Ok, you check and the button bets 400. Now what?
Beavis68: You play poker.
Jason75: Darn, I was really hoping for canasta. Maybe Gin.
