Default What to do when someone's on a flush draw

You hit a nice flop, say two pair or trips.

You put in a pot-sized bet, some idiot with a flush draw calls.

    The Turn MISSES him.

What now? I tend to go all-in here but usually get called.

Should I rather try to see the river cheaply, and survive with a crippled stack in case he makes his flush?

If you are playing a cash game and you know your opponent is on a flush draw and you know they will call your all in with less than 4.2 - 1 pot odds then you should push all in. Even if they call and hit, long term you are making profit this way.

Tournament MAY be different in some situations if you feel survival is more important than doubling up.

if you know hes on the draw, make him pay. pot the turn(or, go all in if you are going to have less than half the pot on the river anyway). if the flush card misses and im 80%+ sure that he was on that draw, i like to check because usually i can get a check raise in when he bluffs. however thats only when im sure hes on the draw, sometimes when i think he could have been on the draw but im not sure ill check call and pick off alot of differnt hands.

just dont give them the odds to pay for the draw, and if they are calling, great, they are making you money in the long run.

If you usually go all in on the turn and people call you with a flushdraw you ought to be happy! They DON'T hit almost every time though it can appear so some days.

Agreed with all the above. It is an unforgivable crime to let your opponent get a cheap card for his draw. Make them pay for it. Heck, you're a more than 80% favorite!

Are you playing cash/ring games or tourney? What the other posters have said is perfectly correct in either case (you have odds favourite and if he's calling a 1/2+ pot size bet or all-in on the turn he's making a mistake) but ESPECIALLY in tourneys, you want to keep the pressure on when you think you're ahead but vunerable. Keeping on the pressure causes your opps to make mistakes - taking off the pressure is your mistake! Surviving in a tourney is a 1st priority but protecting your stack has to be number 2 - you can't let a draw cripple your stack by giving him a cheap draw or the right price to see the next card.

BTW, although going all-in puts your entire stack at risk, it also removes implied odds as you then have no more chips to pay off on the river. If your opps is savvy enough to know this, you not only have giving him the wrong odds on the turn but there will be no pay off if he makes it on the river. He'll fold everytime - it's the fish and call stations who will go to showdown and lose 80% of the time giving you the big pay off!

You need to keep pushing in this situation if they'll call. Especially in a tourny imo. In tournies you need to get your 18 or whatever double ups in sometime, I dont see a better time to get your chips in, your more of a favorite in this spot than AA vs 22 pf.

    What about this situation ...

    10 man table ... 100/200 blinds
    Your chips 2,200
    Villain chips 6,000
8 limpers (including you) .. pot 1600 .. you with 88 villain with AT hearts.

    Flop:

    Heart Heart 8

You deny odds for turn draw by betting 1000
    Villain calls

    Turn:

    3 Clubs

    Villain all in -

Is he making a bad play ... do you call?

    1000 chips to call 4600????

That's 4.6:1 my friend!!! Holy shit, where do I sign up to call that bet?

BTW, your opponent only has 7 outs to make his hand (8h and 3h make quads and a FH, respectively).

So the dude is only 15% to win.

You're 85% to win getting 4.6:1 on your money.
Jason75: Ok, you check and the button bets 400. Now what?
    Beavis68: You play poker.
Jason75: Darn, I was really hoping for canasta. Maybe Gin.
