I only had 20 hands on the villan (65% V$IP, 1.6 aggro, 8% raise pf) but he'd been betting at alot of pots that were checked to him when he was last to act.

Pre-flop: (4 players) Hero is SB with
UTG folds, Button calls, Hero calls, BB checks.

shitty hand, good odds, meh ok.

Flop: ($0.75, 3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, Button bets $1, Hero calls, BB folds.

no raises preflop, I'm pretty sure my kings are good, but i wanted to see what other players said. The overbet makes me think he's trying to buy, but my kicker isnt too strong. And there are plenty of ways for me to win this hand -

1) I have the best hand and win at showdown
2) I improve to two pair and win at showdown
3) I take the pot away on the turn or river. either if a flush card hits or he shows weakness

Hero bets $4, Button folds.
Uncalled bets: $4 returned to Hero.

Before he folded he said "nice flush" Which makes me think he was bluffing the whole time.

My question is do you think check-calling in situation is a good idea? Or do I make more/win more by playing this more aggressively?
