tournaments coming up at my casino. hows this structure look? what kinda strategy would this structure reward? is it even worth it?
there are 2 tournaments soon, next week there is a 200+20 and after that there is a 150+15. pays the top 10% of the field, 180 people max, word of mouth tells me that 120+ people usually play, FULL OF FISH!!!!!
4000 starting chips
25 50 blinds to start, blinds raise every 30 minutes for the 1st 3 hours, then double every 20 minutes after that.
well guys, have at it. how would you go about this tournament? anything in particular i should note? this will be my 1st casino live tournament (as i didnt want to try one underage) any advice would be nice

Well it would be good to know what your up against (table image wise) but thats just something youll have to deal with. I certainly noticed that the blinds are slow about going up , so i would say just play some good hands PF and wait for some cards to hit the flop. But beware , because your REALLY going to have to change gears later in the game to win more pots and scare the table a little bit. Thats really my strategy on what to do in a tourny like that. G.L. to ya!

im thinking the same thing, ill try to add to my stack through the fish in the 1st 3 hours, and if im fortunate to make it to the endgame ill just play agressive small pot poker, just stay ahead of the blinds and hopefully coast to the final table.

Theres 90 bets, and this will be paced similar to a stars Tourney. You get about twice the hands in online, and the pace is twice as fast, so you just need to play this like you would, say, a $10 Stars tourney. Better yet a $20 180 man SNG. Use those for practice.
This is NOT a slow pace, and you are not deep stacked. Don't bring that misconception to the table. But by no means is this a fast paced event either.Marm is back, maybe. Been off for 3 years. Rusty as Hell.

The beginning is slower than many casino events (typically 15-20 minute levels) . . .
Just see a lot of flops early and don't be afraid to push big hands hard (AA, KK big raises PF - at least 1/6 your stack, made hands on the flop could be all in bets until you bag the first fish).
But once the blinds get to the doubling every 20 minutes portion, it basically becomes a turbo game (you're only going to see 10 hands/level at most). So be prepared to steal a lot if you can and don't be afraid to gamble if you think you have the best of it.Jason75: Ok, you check and the button bets 400. Now what?
Beavis68: You play poker.
Jason75: Darn, I was really hoping for canasta. Maybe Gin.

at the end of 3 hours blinds will bet 1600/3200
SO if you want a stack of 10bb you are going to have to run from 4,000 to 32,000 is just 60-90 hands.
Seems like a pretty shitty structure to me.

Yea. Its good that is your first tourny and all but this one sounds like CRAP. The blinds need to be QUICKER! Prepare for a LONG tourny. You wont see to many busting out very quickly unless they're fishies. Then you become the SHARK!
