I was getting real short and decided with all the money in the pot and potential callers, if I wanted to hit top 3 this was my best shot a getting a decent stack. Should I have waited for a better spot?

WIthout knowing what kind of cards you have been getting, I'd say yes, I was a good spot. YOu were gettings sweet pot odds with about 5 BB's left, I think it was a case of now or never.

I'd rather you go all in first with 72o then jump into this mess. At least give yourself an opporutnity to win the pot uncontested . . . You know you're getting at least 2 calls here, and the action ahead of you looks ugly for an easily dominated hand like QT.
But looking at it one more time, what are you going to do? Frankly, I think you either took a beat here recently or waited way too long to make a move.Jason75: Ok, you check and the button bets 400. Now what?
Beavis68: You play poker.
Jason75: Darn, I was really hoping for canasta. Maybe Gin.

I hate to go all in in this kind of situation, but honestly, I think you had too.
Pot odds were there and you had a decent hand. Of course you wont win often in this situation, but when you do, you have a shot at 1st place $$$...
If you dont, you might go all in with AJo later in the same orbit and be called by BB and lost to 2 under cards. Even if you fold here and win your next all in HU, you will still be low stack.

Didnt have the cards to make any moves. Anytime I tired anything I'd get called and get bet into on a scary flop or re-raised all-in and I'd have to lay down whatever crappy cards I had. Considering the cards I got this tourny I'm surprized I made it this far.
