Gee, the SB who only has an M of 5.5 min raises you when it folds around to him.

I wonder if this is a trap????

    Of course it is.

Looks like you sucked out anyways with your trip 8's.
Jason75: Ok, you check and the button bets 400. Now what?
    Beavis68: You play poker.
Jason75: Darn, I was really hoping for canasta. Maybe Gin.

Well, without any history, we can't make that judgement Jason. It could just as easily be a weak player trying to steal with the least amount of risk to himself. I think I could easily play that the same exact way.
Marm is back, maybe. Been off for 3 years. Rusty as Hell.

Even though you're effectively getting 10:1 odds to call here (you're likely getting all his chips if you hit on the flop) . . . I'm not really crazy about making the call here.

If he is trapping with a big hand and you hit a pair, then you've essentially committed all your chips to the pot drawing very slim. And at this point we've got a nice stack, so I'm not sure I see the value here.

Could it be a weak player who doesn't know any better? Sure, but I doubt we'd see a hand history posted here if it was.

Would be nice if we were given some info on the villian here.

I have a love hate relationship with min raisers. I probably call too, but I have folded too. T8 is good enough for a call. T8 is my hail mary hand. Hell all flops have a T or an 8 right?

    I llike your donkey style.

I'd feel much more comfortable calling an all in than a min raise here. . . . .

But I'm just laying this down every time. In a tournament, we have to ask ourselves what's our advantage to playing this particular hand, and whether the risk is worth the potential reward. We have an M of 25 if we lay this hand down . . . but if we get ourselves in a shitty situation, the guy with 1300 in chips can really take a bite out of us.

If you're intent on playing this . . . min reraising might not be a bad idea. Give him a chance to fold (maybe). But . . . . seriously though, just lay it down.

    the call is ok,
i think on the flop tho i lead out for half-pot. makes folding that much easier if u are check-raised.

how can beer get hot so fast? like 12oz from fridge in a glass, and after 3 minutes its like 85 degrees.

min raise always screwey. Is SB trying to make a weak play? He he playing AJs like a donly? Is he actually rasing a good hand???

IMo we cant tell, so we must ether call or raise. (cant just say he has 88+ i fold)

really i dont like calling or rasing eather. call, hell prolly lead flop, and we will prolly have missed so we fold. push pf, and we are prolly 62/38ish. And if we push, he will call. so i fold w/ intent on picking up 2 pots from the button and CO.
I get more ass than a toilet seat. All shapes/colors/sizes.

Thats why I keep a set of glass mugs in the freezer. Pour in the cold beer from the fridge and watch it freeze to the sides....
