Okay, this one perplexes me. I'm on the button w/ a great hand (I always play the button strong w/ first in...whether stealing or not)...but should I have called BB's allin?

no need to get your hole stack in with only $1 in the pot.

The player would have to be pretty bad before I would do that.

unless hes been doing this repeatedly with any 2 cards, id fold. At best your in a coinflip situation, for your whole stack. unless you really shortstacked... not worth it.

I always considered AK as a hand to bet all-in and not a hand to call all-in

    anyway... its my opinion.

Villain said "steal?" before pushing. That's probably a tell that he wants you to call. Folding AKs preflop on the button is painful, but its still a drawing hand. Unless you have a read that villain is a maniac, overplays Ax and smaller pairs preflop, or would push KQ and the like, this is a folding situation. Rule of thumb, AK is best when you put your money in first.

It wasn't a question of me falling for the "steal?" comment...I figured he had something decent. I actually hesitated before calling because I read that comment as meaning he had something good. I was just thinking it may be something weaker than AKs...maybe AQ, AJ (boy how we dream when we want our hand to be good). But after reading these comments, I think you are right...better to push this hand than to call with it. Not that I would have pushed here. This was a great time to lay down the hand and wait for a better opportunity. As has been pointed out...even if he decided to push any pair, I am risking my stack on a coin toss.

BTW, just more ammo for you to whip me with....he was only playing 20% of his hands.

    Thanks for the comments.

    20 % of his hands ?
This kind of tight player would only push with AA,KK,AKs and MAYBE QQ but im not even sure about QQ.
