I guess his re-raise to $7 should have set off some alarm bells in my head. I figured I was winning against 8s, 9s, 10s and AK of diamonds and losing against Qs, Ks or As.

meh just start calling down after he reraises to $7. you dont NEED to go broke, but its not that bad here.

villians raise from EP and his bet on the flop + re-raise, means he has QQ+.
i doubt he would play pocket 88 99 or TT like that post flop.
flop u need to raise harder. Im bumping it up to $4 on the flop, maybe even $5. If he decides to re-raise you then, then u can fold it knowing he has QQ+. If he flat calls my raise, then im checking it down.
