    Default Heads Up

Well I dont have one particular hand to post because heads up is much more playing the player than the cards but i have a problem.

Im playing a lot of heads up NL $5+0.50 on Pokerstars and I usually have 2 kind of opponents.

    1. Loose-agressive
    2. Tight-agressive

My problem is : I have difficulty to play against maniacs (the good kind of maniac).

    The common actions are

    When he s SB :

He raise : I fold when I have crap, I re-raise with good hands. Sometimes he re-re-raise me and then or I push or I call. When I call, if he bet the flop and I didnt hit anything I just... dont know what to do so I fold most of the time. When I hit something I raise and usually win the pot.

    When he s BB :

I raise, he call or he re-raise. Then I bet the flop and he will re-raise me. If I didnt hit anything once again i dont know where I am and choke it.

If i tighten too much Im easy to read and then he will just fold to my aggression and will steal many blinds from me.

Its like he always try to be the aggresor.

Really, I have difficulties with maniacs heads up...

    any suggestions ??

just try to beat him to it. PF when he re-raises your raise (when ur on the button), and u have a playable hand then re-raise all in (dont just flat call then fold on the flop, ur only 1/3 to hit a pair - so 2/3 times ur gonna have to fold the flop).

if ur in BB and OOP, and he raises from button, and u have a playable hand. Just re-raise all in. Put all the pressure on him instead. This works alot better then re-raising or calling OOP imo.

    Play extremely aggressively PF.
Basically, anytime u have a good hand, and theres been a raise or a re-raise PF, ur next raise should be all in pf.

Suggestion: Do a search on "heads up", we've covered this topic many times, and I think myself and many others have put out detailed strategy on heads up play. It's all good stuff . . . .
Jason75: Ok, you check and the button bets 400. Now what?
    Beavis68: You play poker.
Jason75: Darn, I was really hoping for canasta. Maybe Gin.

    hmmm...

against a loose player...call more with mid/top pair and re raise on rivers n such.

against maniacs...even with a good hand such as AK AQ or maybe even KQ
just call...hope for a flop and if u catch a card, call down.

i dont know how to give better advice really...but i felt like i had to put in a reply after beating this kid heads up 4 times in a row on UB.

he never had the chip lead...once

you are answering your own questions by telling you what he does to beat you, you need to be playing the winning role so make sure you are not being pushed off hands that are probly the winning one. usually any ace is good heads up and is ok to play is extra-aggro preflop, as well as any pair on the flop is usually good. just be careful and make sure you are always a step ahead and setting up traps.
