ok so here's a question for all you gurus...
when you're playing some pp and you flop a quad, how do you play to maximize your profit? since in general, you dont have to worry about being outdrawn, is slow the most profitable way to play? seems that the fact that no one can catch a part of the pair on board would limit you from getting much action. there's an off chance that someone overvalues the pair they make with the other card, but otherwise, it doesnt seem that you can get very big pots from quads with somewhat limited fields.
thanks

flopping quads

It depends, in a 6-max lagish game I'd bet/raise every time. In some games you can't do that. If the flop is 22A and you have 22 you can play it very fast due to the fact someone with AK/AQ etc will go very far with you. if its 677 you can't do the same thing.

Hi..
there's a very old saying in poker (at least 18 months old).. "quads dry the pack.." they look spectacular when you get them but.. the only thing you can hope for is that someone trips or get an ace high flush on the turn or river ... and so slow play is the way..
If you look at what remains if you have quads.. there is zilch.. maybe an overpair.. AA should have knocked 22 out preflop .. so that hope has gone.. you only have the x card and turn and river cars for your opponents to play with...
Out of interest... I folded quads twice at Doyles yesterday.. (ok it was preflopand I'm sure theres something funny at Doyles.. but I aint complaining).. but if I had stayed in. .I would have won about 20bb total...

In EP I check flop bet small after turn if an overcard lands and bet pot on river... this is assuming nobody bets on flop. If they do I check call check raise bet into.
In LP if I'm last to act usually check behind or call any bet. Then min raise turn. Especially if there're 2 or 3 people still in the hand on turn (make the drawers pay). Too often I've called a 5 buck pet on turn last to act with 2 other people on it, then river is blank and it's checked to me i bet 5 and they muck. Make em pay and pray they hit.
If the pot's unraised, I might just check down to river and bet pot. Pray someone hits and bust them up
.
Cheers,
Mike

Actually you should bet for value, not just push. You gotta estimate what they are willing to call here. Less than a push will induce more calls than a full push.

But if you've been squeaky tight for a while, you should slow play them, let the others at the table build the pot, then explode on the river. Try not to pull a BOOB (Bet Out Of the Blue) though, that sets off alarm bells.

I honestly think he would call with any spade over 5 he liked to see showdowns. My notes say something about him calling a 3x pot bet with TPNK
