Here's another topic I'd love to discuss. I think this is one of the most critical things of tournament play to master: Switching Gears.
First off, we have to figure out what the gears are. I have a Loose Passive Gear (my early tourney trapping gear), a tight aggressive gear (for tough tables and as a defensive gear), and a super aggressive gear (start raising just about every hand 2.5 bb and fire 1/3 - 1/2 pot continuation bets at everything). Thanks to Kill Phil, I also have a Kill Phil gear I can get into (all in or fold PF).
What gears do other people have, and when do you use them?

Jason75: Ok, you check and the button bets 400. Now what?
Beavis68: You play poker.
Jason75: Darn, I was really hoping for canasta. Maybe Gin.

i mainly have a conservative gear, a consistant gear, and a "crazy" gear.
i try to play conservative real early in a game and towords the end such as when theres 4 people left and the top 3 win money, i play consistant for awhile during a game making the same pre flop raise keep the amount consistant then i like to go into my crazy gear when i break the consistancy and go all in and startle half the table

I have a few different playing styles, but when the highest buy-in tourneis I hit are the 5$ MTTs, I dont feel like switchin gears would even be noticed, mabye once we're down to 3 tables.... But before that I just play according (opposite) the to play at my table.
