    Question betting patterns

How do some of you go about catorgizing, remembering and evaluating your opponents betting patterns effectively so that you can apply it to your game.

I seem to be struggling in this area.

Make lots of notes and develop a shorthand for doing so.

3xbb KK utg = raise 3 times the big blind with KK under the gun

    or

    min bet flop weak

    or

cont bet ocards = continuation bet with overcards

    etc

Harder live, but online it's one of the biggest edges you can exploit

i take notes in my note section, but usually i'm looking for obvious things.. like "overbets pot with made hand to protect against straight/flush draws", "underbets pot on steal".. "underbets on flop when drawing to see extra card" ect. ect... everyone has pattern.. hell if you look closely enough you'll see patterns in your life. To help develope your skills to pick up these patterns just take notes, write down anything you think you could use to your advantage or is a weakness, soon it becomes second habit, then you don't even really have to take notes anymore. Even if your notes are bad they'll get better.

Do you guys write 'em down in a small notebook or something or just use the note sections @ the table?

Use the notes feature. If you have PT you can export and import notes from there.

A lot depends on what tables you are playing. Irexes sees the same people way more often at the $55 sngs than I do at the $1.50 sngs. His detailed notes make sense for him, but might be a little burdomsome for me. I can go 30 sngs in a row and not see the same guy. So use common sense here. Of course, if you are playing a ring game, you can choose who you want to sit down with in the future.
I think the most important betting pattern to note is what starting hands someone limps/raises with (and from what position).
At every showdown, it helps to remember the pf play. Knowing someone raises UTG with a weak king is important to remember. Other examples: plays any sooted, aggressive with weak ace, limps with aces, steals blinds with anything, plays any paint (any 2 painted), raises low pairs, blows his wad with big pair, will call anything once he puts money in the pot... etc.

And the use of tracking software gets rid of 80% of your standard notes "Sees too many flops" Sees too many Showdowns" etc... Lets you concentrate on a player's particulars.
Marm is back, maybe. Been off for 3 years. Rusty as Hell.
