Ok, I have had this happend twice recently.
I get dealt a hand like JJ
Flop comes![]()
![]()
It checks to me on the button, and I raise and get on caller - flat call. I figure he is on the draw, he checks a rag on the turn, and I check. On the river it is another rag, and he bets big - I call thinking this looks like a missed draw bet (he would probably just check with a Kx).
I have picked up nice pots like this (marm saw one). Anyone else ever do this?

How did you play preflop?

wow, that is a good question. I believe I took a page from Umichs play book and just called - cant remember, may have raised to 3x.
In this hand I was on the button and there were already a few in the pot, can't remember. I have position in both the hands where this happened.
As was wondering if anyone plays like this, add your own qualifiers. In some cases, I think it is weak, in others, good way to get money in the pot.

I particularly like the bet on the flop. If you get raised, then you figure you are beat. After his call, you knew that he was on the draw. With the rag on the turn, I would have bet again. On the river, I may have even raised all-in after his bet. If you know he was on the draw, it is a good way to try and get more out of him. Also, if he flods, you know he was on the draw, and get some insight into how he plays his draws.

Hey,
Yeah I have done this stuff before. Like I'm BB and flop tpnk. I bet pot 1 caller. check turn he checks. River blank check and he bets. Now I'm practically forced to call because I figure he's 50 percent likely to bluff in this spot. So I call and win. If I bet on turn and check river, often the same thing can happen. It can make your life very difficult. It's especially annoying when you just have a mediocre hand. I'd rather do this move with a strong hand, to piss him/her off when I raise them
.
Cheers,
Mike

And if he calls and busts you, you know he had a hand? I see re-raising someone on a busted-draw bluff on the river as being 100% -EV.

If I just call I see his cards - or can at least look at the hand history.
I would probably be more likely to do that play with TPWK and hope to pick off middle pair.Last edited by Beavis68; 12-07-2004 at 01:29 PM.

Yea, you're correct.

Thinking it over, it didn't make much sense.

Have a little John Kerry moment there?

Bush's prescription drug plan is just a pay-off to the big pharma companies, so vote for me and I will pay-off the big pharma companies to make more flu vaccine"Last edited by Beavis68; 12-07-2004 at 01:37 PM.

LMAO...Sometimes I just say something spontaneously, without thinking it over. Uh oh, maybe I do that when I play poker also.
John Kerry, LOL

Oh, that is a Howard Dean moment. Kerry just doesn't think any one will notice.
