    Default Betting against a draw...

What do you guys think of this hand? There's that thin line sometimes between betting your hand, and creating the correct odds to draw to. I'll admit my PF might've been a little loose but the raiser was a little tight post flop if he missed his hand. If I was reraised post flop I'd figure him for a big pair. Was I wrong to bet this hand, I mean did I create the proper odds for them to draw?

Just wondering if by betting here I was actually creating the proper odds for them to draw to their straight, would it be better to check the flop and bet the turn?

    Nope!!!

When you have the best hand, Jam the pot... I dont see what is this opponent odds mather... You are still favorite to win this hand... the more money in the pot, better it is for you! No mather what odds your opponent have to call... Its fixed limit you have no control on that.

+ I dont think your play is nowhere near loose PF... unless you have a solid read on the raiser! And I mean Solid!!!!!!!

In fact I would have raise to chasse BB out of the hand and get a few more info about raiser's hand... + re-raising 99 is certainly +EV in a .25/.50 game VS 1 raiser no caller.

    Just my 2 cents.

Do you give them better odds if you don't bet?

Even if they are calling with odds it is still making you money and costing them money.

What Beav said. If you bet, you may be giving them 10:1 odds so they have the odds to call. If you don't bet they've got infinate odds, so what does that get you?

You can also look at it from a pot equity perspective. If they've got a 1 in three chance of hitting, that means "your" portion of the pot is 2/3 meaning that you get 2/3 of both your bet and his. In the long run you come out ahead.

Also, Keep in mind that on the flop (which seems to be the bet you were most concnerned with) anybody with an A would need runner runner for the str8. There is no way to give them correct odds to chase a runner runner draw unless you don't bet.
