Default Hmmm, how do you like my play?

Hey guys,

Before I show you hand let me give you a little background. Ok, so Villain is a player I haven't seen before, but judging his play before this hand he seemed to be 'ok'. i mean he's capable of folding (unlike many). Also, he had pushed me out of 2 mediocrish hands from earlier in the session.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (7 handed)

UTG ($16.70)
MP1 ($51.65)
MP2 ($43.50)
CO ($98.85)
Hero ($44.70)
SB (Villain) ($45.15)
BB ($44.75)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 7d, 2c.
UTG folds, MP1 folds, MP2 calls $0.50, CO folds, Hero calls $0.50, SB (Villain) raises to $1.5, BB folds, MP2 folds, Hero calls $1.

IMHO, my limp on button is a very powerful move. Flop 72x nobody suspects the 72, nobody. Huge implied odds here. Unfortunately SB bet, and everyone folded to me. Now if I call and don't hit my 2 pair, then I was going to pick a spot to take the pot down.

Flop: ($4) 6s, Jh, 8s (2 players)
Villain bets $1.5, Hero calls $1.50.

No, can't take it down on flop... Calling looks more powerful with my backdoor straight draw.

Turn: ($7) Qc (2 players)
Villain bets $1.5, Hero raises to $5.5, Villain folds.

Same wimpy bet? I turn on the heat here and he folds like a cheap suit. Course I show my hand and more than a few of the players were shocked .

Final Pot: $14
Main Pot: $10, won by Hero.
Pot 2: $4, returned to Hero.

I also tried this move for MP1 to see. He's a player I've played thousands of hands with, and on at least 4 occasions when I won a nice pot he'd tell me how he knew exactly what I had, and yadda yadda yadda... Course this guy is the most predictable SOB in the world, but I don't say that . In the dozens and dozens of times we've been at the same table, I have only won 12 off him, and lost 10 lol! I wanna get a big score off this doofus.

Cheers,

Mike

A lot of people think that when they spot weakness early that they have to pounce, but when I'm weak myself, I like to take off cheap flops and make decisions on the turn. Very nice play. Playing the turn is a key to this game and you still didn't bet enough to be committed because you didn't have to.

Isn't also true that if you flop 72x, people are unlikely to have hit the flop. What hand do you expect to give you action in an unraised pot?

Are you guys serious? I was obviously joking.

Just playing for the button and to represent whatever drawing hand looked like hit the flop/turn.

Cheers,

Mike

PS. It was also a good chance to change my image in MP1's eyes...
