No hand history but I think this was an interesting hand.
I was on the button on my 3rd hand (I bought in 2 off the button...impatient I know, but this is the cutoff for me to be impulsive with sitting down and since I only have 1 hr on train I didnt feel like waiting) and I pick up KK.
.10/20 NL game on Prima:
2 limpers from MP and I raise it up to $1.
The BB re-raises me to $3. All others fold.
Due to my bad luck lately I immediately thought "Oh shit he has aces" but I have no true read and I am not laying down Kings. My 1st inclination was to push here or put in a hefty re-re-raise. Instead I just called.
My reasoning was that if he had aces I am beat anyway and losing my stack so I thought that if I just called I could get away from the hand if an ace flops. My other thought was (since im supposed to go broke if has aces anyway) maybe if the flop is undercards I can represent a set by pushing after he bets and maybe get him to lay down his aces. (Remember, I dont KNOW that he has aces...i just fear them because Im like a dog who has been kicked to much)
Flop comes something like 10 6 2 all rags. He bets out about $7 into a pot of about $7. I have about $16 in front of me and push.
He calls and shows his aces.
Considering most would have pushed pre-flop with the same result is there any merit to trying it this way? I figure I at least gave myself a way out of the hand with some face if an ace fell.

well...
I guess you played it well... You had no choice... Preflop you had the odds to call with anything, considering you was almost sure all the $$$$ will go in if you hit hard... And on the flop.... well... you had Ks dude... you could have beed wrong and see him show QQ...

Just looks like bad luck to me, there's no real way of knowing if he had aces. He could've been re raising with AKs or QQ (seeing as you haven't seen him play many hands) and yes the idea of folding if an A hits is a possibility for you.
However, there was no A on the flop so if he had anything less that AA (other than naturally trips) your reraise makes it a tough call for him. There's a good chance he'd probably put you on a big pocket pair at that point. But like you said if he DOES have aces....you're supposed to bust

I have a question for you, if an A came on the flop and he checked, what would you have done?

I'm not a cash game player, but I think this is FPS (Fancy play syndrome). You have all but AA dominated, and considering the hands he could be raising with - 99-QQ, AK, AQ, I think it's a mistake not to push here PF.
Remember, you will run into aces, on average, 4% of the time you get dealt KK. Of course this is a lifetime average - due to variance you'll find it happens to you twice or more times in a row or within several times of getting KK, and then it won't happen for forever. That's why we play the odds, not supersition or sixth sense.
Just remember the long haul, and push that KK. Remember, if you don't Beavis will beat you.

It's not really reasonable... because if he has AK or AQ he's not going to call your large bet on a ragged flop, but he MAY call your push preflop. In that case you've got him drawing to 3 outs.

I also think it's likely that he may have other hands then the AA that you're fearing. Since this is the only hand to fear, it's bad luck he had it.
I could be wrong, but his re-raise from the BB could have been an isolation move. I think he could have made this move with any hand >TT. He also could have been. His bet on the flop seemed a little excessive. When I bet the pot in a NL tournament, it's usually to chase draws out and get people to fold because I may be beat. If I want callers, I usually go with 1/2 pot or around there. He could have been on AK and thought his A was good. He could have been on JJ and thought his overpair was good. The problem with these hands is that if you re-raise him, he's folding (which was the right move).
I try not to fear a specific hand when I'm playing unless that seems to be the only hand that makes sense, which in this case there were far more hands that make sense for him to have other then AA.Trons
