I call and lose to the AA or KK, occassionally he has AQ, KQ or JJ.

There's a time and a place for thinking about folding this, it's not this early in an MTT where doubling up will significantly increase your chance of making the money.

but if he folds here and loses the 300 somewhat chips, it wont really affect his chances of moneying.. i think in early tournament 1500 chips wont make much difference if u have 1200..

but if he calls and villian flips over the set or KK AA.. then hes almost drawing dead.. so basically ur risking ur 44 dollar buyin on this hand.. i dont think its worth it imo.. cuz u can fold this hand and still do well in the tourney by playing good poker, but if u risk it all on this hand and ur wrong, then ur out.

lol since marm hasnt replied yet to this thread, i bet that he folded it.. im 100% certain that marm folded this hand on the flop

MTTs aren't about winning any one in particular and if you are worried about protecting the buyin then you are underrolled. They are about playing dozens and making a massive ROI on the one or two where you make a huge profit. To do that you need lots of chips and that means calling situations like this.

Those 300 chips can quickly become 600 then 1200.

lol yea i understand where ur coming from.. i think i have my type of mentality cuz im a cash game player.. your more of a tourney/sng type player, so i think u have more experience then me to comment on this situation..

i think this could also explain why whenever i play tourneys, i just make the money.. and i rarely make final tables now where all the big money is at..

slowly im trying to adopt the mentality of bust out early before the money or make the final table approach whenever i play tournament poker now.

I can understand that and it's probably why I have a hard time in ring not pushing too much.

I think it's important to know when to make the big laydowns in MTTs and TPTK is far from being invulnerable, but this early I'd call without a lot of evidence that suggests otherwise.
