His possible holdings must include the flush draw?

if he had a really strong hand i'd expect him to reraise preflop...truth is he could have anything really, 30 chips might be 3BBs, but to most ppl its just 30 chips and they'll call from the BB with any vaugely playable hand...i would call and expect to see a flush draw...maybe trip 6s or 3s, maybe QT-QK

TPTK is too good to lay down here IMO. if he had AA, KK, or QQ PF, you would have to think he would have re-raised it. He didn't, so at worst hes got a lower set, at best he's on the flush draw or a weak pair. Seems like a massive over bet, so I would guess weak pair and he is trying to buy the pot right here and now.

this was a smaller tourney than the typical party tourney. folding is not a bad option.

Without any other information on player, fold.

Why? Aren't we taught that at these lower levels we should assume we are playing fish? Granted $40 is more than I have in my BR right now, so I don't have a lot of room to talk, but so far most of what I have read says that if you are playing under $20 per blind, then the competition is usually weak.

I would also have folded.

When people bet like that, they're either a complete fish or they WANT a call and are trying to look like a fish.

Since the only hand you've seen him play he had excellent values in, I'm going to give him credit for a hand, and fold. With the pot being insignificant in comparison to his bet, there is no overlay to give you some margin for error. I hate CALLING all-in with a one pair hand.

Irexes says this is a good spot to gamble though... and Irexes does seem to be the most successful tourney player around these parts... so I'm probably wrong

I'd put him on two pair, and fold.
