he could have a small pocket pair...but he probably has nothing, and KQ is the best non pocket pair non-ace hand for that flop...but its not really worth a call, if pot was biggger or his raise smaller then maybe...but unless you know him well its too uncertain.

i'm surprised about the reaction to the PF raise. 2.5 is reasonable in that spot, especially given that i have to raise the majority of my CO and button when folded to me.

how much do you raise and why? how often are you auto-raising from those spots?

anyhow... i thought the bet looked desperate / a predetermined stop and go on any flop. i narrowed down the range of hands by this logic:

1) can't have a PP 77 or better or i probably would have gotten repopped preflop. small chance of monster pair, smaller b/c i'm holding KQ.

2) A is unlikely because of bet / no repop preflop / quads unlikely

that leaves me with a range that includes small PP's and a mix of big cards / suited splits. I'm way ahead of most of the latter and not too bad off against the former. I call.

Turn J, river J, opponent shows K8o and we split the pot.

2.5x is not enough when there is already 1.5x in the pot.

Alot of peole play no set, no bet at this blind level with anything JJ and below. Maybe 99 and below too. This means they would call marginal raises and not reraise.

However, he is short stack at the table, but not quite low enough to be desparate. I'd still be in card-catching mode at 15 bb's.
