Default I am choketastic!

I just went from a huge stack and a likely cash in a $20 tourney to busting out... in about ten minutes. Check out the two hands that killed me... did I play them wrong, or was I just unlucky?

I raised with AQ and I bet top pair/top kicker for value. Who could've seen the Q8 coming? It was raised preflop, I wouldn't expect Q8 to be in the hand.

Didn't want to push all in with the kings too early, I wanted action. But I got my chips in fairly soon. Correctly played, no?

First hand, what can you say?

2nd hand, you both played right, but he won.

THe Q8, at least the possibility that he misread his hand may give him a little pity.......

First hand: With that stack and AQ, I think you should raise harder preflop to prevent people from calling with those cards. I think he came into the hand because he had chips to burn, it wasn't that much of a call for him especially if he's loose considering everyone else folded.

Second hand: I see nothing wrong here. Even if you pushed all in preflop you might have gotten a call from him.

While I kinda agree, maybe another BB up would work, you don't play around with Q8o, even from the big blind, ESPECIALLY against an UTG raiser.

Why would you want Q8 to fold? Though an even 400 or 450 probably would have been better.

First hand I would fold on turn. Maybe call if a spade landed on turn. It is a little player dependent... So I'd fold if this guy was being tight/quiet for the most part, and then came to life in this hand. If the guy's being a nut and going all in everytime he's in a pot, then you gotta call. My guess is the guy was being tight/quiet (comparitively speaking).

Second hand... Nothing you can do.

Cheers,

Mike
