I have Zonealaram on multiple machines. Just install a personal copy on each machine, don't bother protecting the network itself. Home networks shouldn't need a server anyways .

I have a router with a proper firewall on it and run AV on all my pcs.
I've had ooooh approximately one virus in the last decade which was when I let some donk without AV hook up to my network at a lan party.
