Default Do you call?

Right before this hand, the villain had been talking about how I'd been buying pots all night and how he was sick of it so when he pushed all in on the turn, I thought he had KQ or maybe even JQ.....I didn't think he was a strong as he was, anyways. But either way, would you call? I think mathematically it was right, correct?

I would've raised PF and either raised more to push him out or fold to his raise on the flop. Also, your odds were far lower than needed to be for a call.

You don't want to be all-in with top pair or on a draw (albeit the nut flush draw) when your opponent (who raised you nonetheless) has your chips covered and can put you out on the streets.

Bad call, my friend.

Sean, you are an noob.

The only thing you said right is to raise more on the flop but probably not much.

Otherwise you have 14 outs if you dont have the best hand. Call.

with out looking @ showdown:
raise preflop to .20.
flop, leyts assume yo accidently clicked call preflop.

raise it to about 1.80.

when utg overbets this you know your beat at the moment or he is pushing with a draw.

then a smart player would find out the maths, pot odds, % of hands UTG would do this with etc....

I would just skip the math part and call, hoping to hit my flush.

with top pair top quicker, an over card to the board, and the nut flush draw i dont see how anyone could lay down this hand. you ran into a better hand but thats just poker. you wouldve won in the long run.

Ironically-

Calling 6.83 to win a pot of 15.38 (6.83/15.38=.444)

pokenum -h 8c qc - ah qh -- 7h 8h qs
Holdem Hi: 990 enumerated boards containing Qs 8h 7h
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
Qc 8c 544 54.95 441 44.55 5 0.51 0.552
Ah Qh 441 44.55 544 54.95 5 0.51 0.448

He's getting damn near the exact odds he needs to call. Kinda funny.

I compared his 6.83 to the 12.whatever raise and not to the total pot size, SORRY.

However, I still would've laid this down, this may just be me though. At least it a tournament, I don't play ring games so I'm sure I'd be wrong.

Oh and to defend my PF action, in the few hands leading up to this one, I had been raising a lot PF and then taking the pot down with continuation bets on the flop. My thinking here was that I could just limp and get away cheaply if the flop missed me. Not only that but the table was playing pretty loose and I'm pretty sure a 4xbb raise would have gotten at least a couple of callers, the villain included.

And this was only for the exact hand he had. A more reasonable hand range would be AA,KK,QQ,88,77,T9s,Q7s, Q8s, 87s,AQ and KQ he is a 60% favorite. Even if you limited the T9s hands to only Th 9h you are a 57% favorite.

Throw in a flew bluffs and this is a profitable call. Especially if you raise more your self first.

Sean, if you have Phil Gordons Little Green Book, reread the profile for "Biggest Online Winner" if you don't have it, you should probably get it since it seems like you like him.
