limping ak isnt smart imo.
for the all in, this is a great play in some cases. because
A. alot of times you are called and have the best hand
B. alot of the times you are called its 50/50 (this is one of the worst results, the only thing that makes it ok is people will fold alot of 50/50 hands, 22-99 in most cases, and most of the time you have just enough pot odds for a coin flip, so its ok)
c. there are only 2 hands that really suck for you, and you have a 30% chance to beat one of them
d. most of the time, your opponent will fold. it creates fold equity, search that term im sure somone has explained it before.

heres why i dont like the play in this spot.
you have plenty of chips to play with. i dont really like this play until your m is a little bit lower. im a supporter of the AK all in pf, (hence a-d) but i think there is a fine line of where the play becomes not so +ev.
in order for the play to be +ev, you have to think his calling range is pretty tight. and in this spot, its still pretty early in the game. i dont think its worth the risk here when there are still plenty of payers left.

you want him to fold more than call in order to make that bet. do you have any information saying that he might fold? has he backed down before?

with bigger blinds and less people left, i love this play. right now, not so much.

I do this a lot, and I really like this play but....................
You have to be willing to lay it down on the flop if there are 4 or more limpers that see the flop. For example let's say you're UTG and limp with AK, noone raises and 6 player see the flop of A T 5 rainbow. You have TPTK but you might as well just check and fold when someone bets behind you. There's too much chance you're up against AT, A5, 55, or evevn T5 because the BB saw the flop for free and could have literally any two cards.

There were only 2 people left to act after me, so at the most it would be 3 to the flop.

I was hoping for a raise, so that I could push like I did. From the BB, KQ, AT, AQ could all be raising this.

I like this hand alot the way you played it. Like you said you're up against AQ, AJ, KT, or sometimes even a total bluff so it's a great play usually.

That flop would have pissed me off big time. Anyways, i think this play screams AA or KK to the other player and could create some big fold equity. Also considering most people only play their own cards, you're getting good on a call too. If you figured you were getting a raise out of one of the two players left to act then I like this play alot, otherwise im weary of limping with AK, it can cause some disasters.

I was pretty sure I'd be getting a raise out of one of the blinds. That was the reason I went with this.

The plan was limp/push right from limp.

If they'd of just called/checked and I missed I'm getting out of there relatively easily.

Yeah that flop sucked. But the turn was nice.
