the last 2 sessions i tried using this VERY unconventional way of playing poker, criticize if you want...but this has made me money. Alright first i go into a .50 $1 NL 6 man ring game. I start with 50 (which i will basically blow) and throw it around the table, making horrid calls and raising with nothing. Basically to get me the image of being a donky. While doing this i make 4x the bb and higher raises with any two cards. Maybe even talking a little shit every now and then to further increase my image. After the 50 is gone i buy in for another 60. But this time, i'm a new player. I still make the insane BB raises, but this time with mostly good cards. That will increase every single pot that i am in by double. Also, i'm able to win with marginal hands such as middle pair and get called to the river. Mostly because i had made such an image that they could only put me on a bluff and call thinking i'm dead money. Anyway, session 1 i cashed out with 225 and session 2 cashed with 315. I couldn't beleive how many people would call my 10$ overbets with complete garbage, just because the thought of me as only bluffing.

Hellmuth talks about a high stakes player who does this.
I'm not sure how effective this will be at .50/1, especially NL. you are losing a lot right off the bat. $50 is a lot to make up at that limit.
May I suggest buying in for like $10 and just going all in like 3 or 4 times in a row? I think this would accomplish the same thing and cost you less moneyRead my musings on poker and life at Online Poker Examiner, Poker Examiner, PokerNewsBoy.com, and My Poker Blog

haha yea maybe, i'm not saying this something that will get me money in the long run...but its very interesting to see how much my image affects others play. Normally i'm one of the tight aggressive ones that everybody respects my raises. its fun change it up a bit

bet u anything that this strategy wont work in the long run.. once the good players realize that after u re-bought at the table that ur only playing average 2 out of 10 hands.. and folding alot preflop, they will notice that u toned it down, and therefore u wont get that much action.
but hey, whatever works for u buddy... poker is all about playing ur own style anyways

yea i understand this...it probably wont work so good against an educated player either. But this isn't my standard play either. only once in a while in a 6 man NL cash game will i try this. I normally play sng's and tourneys on PP anyway. this was just for a change of pace since i had a nice bankroll goin for me at the time. and i make 300 bux off it. Just thought i would share this, because i found it to be pretty interesting and funny

while this seems a little extreme, there is something to be said about starting out at a table a little looser and more aggressive, so later when you pick up a big hand you get paid off.

This can't be a long term profitable strategy..

It definatly won't be winner long term. seeing as the average online player only plays like 50 hands before you or they leave, you are not alwaysa goign to get he chance to win that $50 back...
Marm is back, maybe. Been off for 3 years. Rusty as Hell.

I agree, i really had a good bunch of people to play against those times too. 2 guys re bought in for 100 mad at me, so of course that was pretty easy for the taking. I remember me taking down a pot with middle pair 9, 2 and he calls 30$ bet into a 10$ pot...amazing how much you can affect your opponent by just playing differently.
