Hey guys this is my first post but I wanted to ask you a question.
I play in these poker tourneys that are one hour long. You get 1000 chips. First 20 minutes is 25/50 the next is 50/100 then 100/200
My question is how would you guys go about playing in a timed tourney like this. It seems like when I play tight I usually end up losing because I'll get screwed on one of the hands haha.
any feedback appreciated thanks

How is the winner determined? At the end of the hour the player with the most chips wins?
Is this played live with your friends? That's what it sounds like. How many hands you possible deal in an hour when it's a bunch of guys playing loosely for fun....30 hands?"Ok, this is for the game. How you doin' over there? NOT TOO GOOD!"" -Bubble Boy

The player with the most chips wins 2nd most is 2nd place.
and no it is played at a poker fundraiser event, i dont know any of the people i play with.
also, there are 11 people per tournament.
And that was why I asked the question, with such few hands its difficult to play like in a regular tournament.

Dont play... its a crapshoot.
But if you want to play. You need to build your stack quickly. You really need to push edges hard, take risks. Folding probable coinflips is not an option.Marm is back, maybe. Been off for 3 years. Rusty as Hell.

In the final hands of the tournamnet it has to turn into an all-in fest. If you know that it's about to end and you aren't in 1st or 2nd, the only move to make is push all-in and hope to get lucky....you've run out of time to truly play.

the problem i always run into is ill get a decent hand someone will raise 300 and then if i lose the hand ill only have 700 chips, then after i get blinded i have about 500. At this point i figure have barely enough chips and go all in when i get a good hand. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

In this kind of game I would play and Suited cards with a Q or higher included in them. Probably raise 3x the blind with it. Also any suited connector and Hellmuths 16 starting hands =) pockets, AK, AQ, or any suited Ace. After that I would call any face card as long as it wasnt raised and any connectors above 78 not raised.
This is a medicorely loose style and you are basicly required to get a little bit lucky. But get the hell out if you miss the flop. After the flop you basilcy have to play pure pot odds because your not going to get a tell off anyone in a game like this. Betting patterns probably are shot too cause your only playing 1 hour.

If you have a decent hand, and theres a raise to 300, and you only have 1000 chips, quit being a pansy and push allin.
