Review: MP had called $200 raise preflop (with still 4 to act behind him); check/called flop.

I can't see him having any draw. He's got to have a PP of some rank (3-Q). It would be odd of him not to bet his pair on the turn to see where he is at. I'm getting real worried about him having a higher set. There is a chance that he has two overcards and puts you on a bluff, but I'm skeptical.

Question is, if he has a higher set and you bet here, is he going to just call (and ambush on the river) or will he push now?
If you check now, what's he likely to bet on the river? I would guess that he would assume he could only get more chips by value betting.
Therefore, I recommend the safe route. Slow down and check. He puts you on a steal, most likely. You can call him down on the river and if he has the overset, you avoided getting busted. I cant really see him pushing on the river.

I know you aren't supposed to worry about losing a set to a higher set, but I guess I don't think that way (flaw in my game?). Maybe this play is a little weak.

What is the argument for not pushing here?

Honestly I probably push this here and let god sort them out.

If l lose to a bigger set then it'll teach me not to call raises with 22.

I'm hoping the other guy has A9 and is now confused enough to call.

How is that possible when the pot is 2k and you each have 800?

What are you talking about, the pot is 2000 and you have 800 in chips left. How are you going to avoid busting? Fold the river?

What, you don't do that advanced calculus where 875 + 1000 = 2075?

OOOPS. Beav is right, pot is 1875.

Ok, this one was fairly obvious to me. I quickly went all in.

MP thinks for what seems like forever, then calls. Turns over:

He's got a flush draw and inside straight draw (but 2 of his spades give me a FH). The table all shakes their heads when I turn my set of deuces over. River comes

and I have him covered exactly. I take down the $3475 with a smile.
