Didn't really have many reads on this guy aside from the fact that he went all-in against a guy on the first hand of the STT and got lucky to double up. First impressions is that he is a fish so I decided to test him out on this hand. Is this the right play in this position?

The right play?
-
03-05-2006 #2
I think you played it nicely on the turn and obviously spotted a weak/poor player which was confirmed when he checked. However it's the bad players who make dumb calls in that kind of situation with bottom pair and you've almost put your entire tourney on the line. Other thing is a decent player may also have played a set the exact same way, so your moves have to be in the context of your read.
Good read, and a good MTT play I would say, but not perhaps not necessary to make a "move" this early in a SnG when nuts and bolts play will do the job til the blinds get big as by winning the pot you havn't significantly increased your chances of cashing but if you had lost it you would have significantly decreased them.

I get the feeling you were beat anyway, I think he had AK.
A good education is expensive but ignorance costs more.
